Prerequisites: Admission to the Nursing Program and BSC2085, BSC2085L, BSC2086, BSC2086L, PSY2012, DEP2004, HUN1201, ENC1101, Choice of one Math: MGF1106, MGF1107, MAC1105 or STA2023. Corequisites: NUR1020C, NUR1280, NUR1010. This course introduces the study of medications designed to provide the nursing students with a basic background of drug classifications, actions, dosages, and side effects. This course includes basic drugs and reviews the mathematical computations that are necessary for safe administration in the clinical setting. This course also presents subject matter related to the reduction of errors in medication administration in the skills laboratory in NUR 1020C prior to administering medications in the clinical area. Contact: 30 hours per semester.
