Prerequisites: NUR2260C, NUR2142, NUR2450C. Corequisites: NUR2313C, NUR2813. This course is designed to provide information to assist the student to acquire the knowledge and skills to provide safe and effective care for patients with critical medical and/or surgical problems and to provide an overview of the health care, nursing leadership and managerial processes. The focus of this course is to provide an overview of critical care of complex patients and to provide the student with the opportunity to develop competence in caring for a group of patients and the decision making process in theoretical and clinical situations of various medical-surgical content. This course builds upon foundational material from previous courses. The Nursing Process provides a framework for the student to utilize critical thinking skills to promote or restore the health of patients within a holistic framework. Contact: per semester: 45 hours lecture, 30 hours lab, and 105 hours of clinical. Additional fee.
