Provides students who are working ASL/English interpreters with in-depth work and study of a particular area of American Sign Language (e.g. classifiers, non-manual markers/signals, use of space, idioms, ASL discourse). The specific topic to be studied may change each time the course is offered. Pre-requisite: Certification from the registry of interpreters for the deaf (RID), National Association of the Deaf (NAD) and/or Massachusetts State Screening Certification. (Additional prerequisites or a specific course or permission of the Deaf Studies Chair may be specified, depending upon the topic to be studied.)
