A brief discourse on the fields and functions of engineering followed by an in depth introduction to computer programming using JAVA with emphasis on engineering. Topics are decimal and binary numbers, selection and repetition structures, arrays, methods, classes, input/output and pointers. Students will write programs to be run on the College' s computers. Prerequisite: MTH 104 or adequate score on the Mathematics Placement Examination 3 class hours and 3 laboratory hours
