Emphasizes the integration of reading and communication skills at the advanced level through an in-depth examination of a theme. Develops critical reading and oral production/comprehensive skills in non-native English speaking students while enhancing students' understanding of the subject matter. Students will be immersed in the selected theme through discussion and oral presentations based on reading of textbooks, newspapers, fiction, and essays as well as oral interviews, film, and community events. Prerequisite: C- or above in ESL 140 and ESL 141 or Placement Test.
