This course is designed to introduce students to American Sign Language (ASL), to the visual- gestural language of the Deaf, to Deaf Culture, and to develop receptive and expressive communications skills. Students will be exposed to the basics of ASL transcription symbols, non-manual behaviors, time classifi ers, lacatives, temporal and distributional aspects. Information about the Deaf Community and its culture will also be featured throughout the course. Code 2 course fee.
