Description:
This course is for Science, Mathematics, Computer Science and Engineering majors only. The course will cover functions, equation solving, mathematical modeling and problem solving, polynomial, rational and irrational expressions, systems of equations, conic sections, parametric equations and complex numbers. Technology will be used throughout the course. The course is specifi cally designed as an accelerated sequence and when combined with MATH 195 (a course that combines Precalculus I and II) will enable a serious Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Engineering student to start calculus at the beginning of the sophomore year. Students cannot earn graduation credits for both MATH 161 and MATH 165. Code 1 course fee. Code 1 course fee. Prerequisite: MATH 011 (minimum grade C) or algebra placement of MATH 012 and permission of an advisor or instructor.
