A study of the history, philosophy, and evolution of corrections. Examines the processes used by our courts that result in sentencing of offenders: probation, parole, treatment models, and rehabilitation models. A study of punishment is undertaken, and the functions that our jails and prisons provide are reviewed. Topics include plea bargaining, speedy trial, sentencing, prisoner rights, victimization, and juvenile justice. 3 hours lecture
