NUR 1530 - Health Restoration and Maintenance for Practical Nursing Students

Students will focus on assisting clients to reestablish health/wellness. Experience will include care of clients across the lifespan and of diverse cultures who experience disruptions in functional health patterns due to complex acute and chronic health deviations. NUR 1510 and NUR 1520 concepts related to communication, critical thinking, caring, accountability, and leadership/management are strengthened while higher-level skills are introduced. Within a variety of community settings, the learner applies the nursing process to the care of clients experiencing health deviations related to disruptions in the following functional health patterns: activity/ exercise, and psycho/social/cultural, sensory/ perceptual/cognitive, protective, nutritional/metabolic, elimination patterns, and sleep/rest. Nursing diagnoses common to these deviations are applied. Upon completion of the course the student will be prepared for the National Council Licensure Examination-Practical Nurse (NCLEX-PN). 8 credit hours. Prerequisites: NUR 1520, BIO 2520, and PSY 2510.
