Students are introduced to the history, development, function, and philosophy of the occupational therapy profession and the occupational therapy assistant. Students are also introduced to relevant theories, frames of reference, and models of practice that influence the occupational therapy process. Emphasis will be placed on understanding and adopting appropriate professional behaviors and the importance of lifelong learning. Students will begin the process of developing a professional portfolio of their individual skills and abilities that mirror desirable skills of an entry-level occupational therapy assistant. 3 credit hours.
