6 credits Part I of this course concentrates on the needs of the patients in a variety of health care settings where direct nursing care is provided. Course content is applied to both simulated and actual patient situations. This is the first nursing practice experience where theoretical content in prior courses is integrated with the application of basic nursing care concepts. The second component focuses on bio-psychosocial models as a perspective for viewing health promotion of persons and groups experiencing vulnerabilities and alterations in mental health across the lifespan. The nursing process is applied to individuals and groups in acute care mental health settings. PREREQUISITE: NS-101, NS-105, NS-110, NS-111, EN-109
