The course explores the difference between public and private policing to identify what constitutes Private Security, including the role and functions, the selection of personnel, training of personnel, ethics and conduct of security personnel. The Hallcrest Report, the first comprehensive look at Private Security in more than a decade, is used to examine the resources, contributions and deficiencies of Private Security.
