3 cr. This student-centered reading strategies course is intended to improve the student's ability to comprehend and process college textbooks and material. ASD-H097 is also a study skills strategies course intended to introduce students to strategies of note taking, test taking, time management, and research techniques. This course utilizes a variety of instructional methods such as; group collaboration, lecture, video, computer, and individual participation. The Web-based reading program is self-paced and required of all students enrolled in ASD-H097. The reading program is completed outside of regular class time. Basic computer knowledge is also integral to this course. Students will be screened on the basis of placement testing. Students must meet the required competency level. This course does not apply to a degree.
