Description:
The content of this course includes the pathophysiological changes resulting from disease processes including the etiology of diseases and disruption of the integrity of bodily functions due to traumatic, immunological, genetic, inflammatory, and degenerative causes. This course emphasizes pathology and pharmacology for diagnoses affecting the neuromuscular systems which are commonly encountered in physical therapy practice, for example, stroke, head injury, multiple sclerosis, and spinal cord injury. Oncology and changes associated with advanced age are also covered. This course is the final classroom experience for the PTA program. Therefore, composition of resume and cover letters, mock interviews, and a mock licensing exam are included. This is a 3 week modular course which begins the ninth week of the semester. (Usually offered spring semester. Restricted to PTA students.)
