An introductory course focusing on the development, organization, and effectiveness of corrections. The legal rights of the probationer, the inmate, and the parolee are examined in detail, providing both the student and practitioner the basis for understanding future developments in corrections. Observations are made as to the effectiveness of modern rehabilitation techniques, obstacles to correctional progress, and strategic errors made in correctional reform. Prerequisite: ENG and RDG placement must be at college-level or Permission of Instructor.
