A survey of Italian literature and civilization of the Middle Ages and Renaissance. Selections from the works of Dante, Petrarch, Boccaccio, Machiavelli and Ariosto will be studied in the context of historical and cultural developments. Lectures and readings in English. This course fulfills the SUNY Gen Ed western civilization requirement as well as the Global Awareness requirement for the A.A. in Humanities and Social Sciences. However, it does NOT fulfill the foreign language requirement for any degree program.
