Studies the settlement of the American West as it has been reflected in popular literature and films, focusing on the distinction between the actual frontier experience and the way that experience has been presented to us in our entertainment. Special emphasis on the Plains Indian, the mountain men, and the cowboys. Prerequisite: ENG 103, ENG 104.
