In this course students apply concepts of nursing process and therapeutic communication with clients experiencing severe mental/emotional disorders likely to be seen in the acute care psychiatric setting: mood disorders and thought disorders. In addition, they learn assessments and interventions related to psychiatric emergencies: threatening/ assaultive behavior and suicide. Prerequisite: NUR 220 Co-requisite: NUR 240.
