This course is designed to introduce students to the tools and practice of studio photography. Students will be introduced to medium and large format cameras, tungsten and strobe lighting systems as well as other lighting equipment. Class will focus on creation of black and white imagery with projects drawn from the following: advertising, portraiture, fashion, product photography, digital, architecture and fine art. Students will develop a working knowledge of all the tools of the studio as well as the ability to work knowledgeably in the crafting of effective lighting of all subject matter. Class projects may involve digital equipment and editing as well as work with analog film material. Class time will include lecture, demonstration, aesthetics, critique and in-class projects. Prerequisites: PHO 150 or Permission of Instructor.
