Social pressures on children in our society that push them toward deviant behavior are focused on in this course. Power structure, class and caste urbanization, minority groups, and the effects of technological change concurrent with urban growth. Family, peer group, gang and slum subcultures as influences in development of the delinquent role. Methods of prevention, treatment and correction. Prerequisite: SOCS 105 or 106 3 credits [Offered at Norwich Campus] These credits count towards the Social Sciences (list C) requirements for graduation.
