This course provides an introduction to the phenomena of mental retardation and developmental disabilities. Students will learn the definitions, classification systems, causes and etiologies. Students will examine current trends and issues regarding service provision. The course meets a portion of the requirements for persons applying for the Adult Services certification in the State of Ohio and meets the requirement for renewing this certification.
