Prerequisite: ITIS 1005 or permission of the instructor of department chair This course introduces students to concepts of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and computer cartography for thematic map production. Projects provide a foundation in the application of computer-based systems in map creation, design, and spacial data management. Because of the similarities in course content, students who have previously taken CIVT 2010 Introduction to GIS will not receive credit for both CIVT 2010 and this course. (4 contact hours: 2 lecture, 2 lab)
