Prerequisite: two German courses numbered 201 or greater Introduction to the major dramatists of the eighteenth, nineteenth and twentieth centuries and to drama as a literary form and a sociological, philosophical, and cultural reflection of the times. In addition to reading representative texts, the evolution of dramatic theory and techniques is examined. May satisfy the pre-fall 2008 general education requirement in upper-level humanities. 4 credits.
