An introduction to heat power cycles and equipment, which includes understanding of heat transfer and heat exchangers. The course starts with heating and cooling load calculation of buildings. Power cycles such as Rankine (steam power plants), Otto, Diesel and Bryton (gas turbine) are discussed and analyzed. Also included are the topics of reversed cycles, psychrometry, refrigerants and refrigeration systems. Prerequisite: MT 125 or MT121. Concurrent registration in ME 347, or permission of instructor.
