PSY 223 is a survey of human exceptionality: attention will be focused on the problems, etiologies (causes), and expectancies of exceptional people in their communities, at school, and at home. Topics include persons with learning disabilities, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorders, emotional disabilities, mental retardation, autism, and people who are gifted, talented, and creative. Special consideration is given to intelligence testing and the placement of atypical learners in special education and inclusive school settings. Prerequisite- Corequisite Prerequisite: PSY 110 General Psychology.
