Description:
This course will survey literary works from several genres, including drama, novels, poems, and stories that have been censored or banned at one time and may still be prohibited in some places. The titles will be chosen for their importance to the study and interpretation of literature and to censorship history. Emphasis will be placed on close reading of the texts and on research into the artistic, political, and social reasons for their censorship. Some of the reading material will come from free Internet sources such as The Gutenberg Project and Banned Books Online. Prerequisite- Corequisite Prerequisite: ENG 110 College Writing I.
