The first of a three-semester sequence in Cal-culus, this course is designed to develop the basic concepts of differential Calculus and their applications. Topics include continuous and discontinuous functions; analytic geome-try; slope of a curve; rate of change of func-tions; limit theorems; derivations of algebraic, exponential, logarithmic, trigonometric, and implicitly defined functions; the mean value theorem; curve sketching; and maximum-minimum problems.
