Dental Anatomy is a first semester course for the first-year dental hygiene student. The course is designed to provide the student with knowledge and understanding of the nomenclature used in dentistry, the anatomy and physiology of the primary and permanent dentition, the relationship of the supporting tissues of the teeth, the relationship of the teeth within each arch, and the occlusion of the maxillary and mandibular teeth. Instructional aids for the lecture series include dental typodonts, oversized tooth models, color slides, cross-sectioned models, and extracted teeth.
