This course provides an introduction to word processing concepts and hands-on practice utilizing the basic features of a Windows-based word processing package. Content includes the document cycle, word processing equipment and system configurations, and word processing careers. Handson applications provide practice in the following features: cursor movement; formatting; basic editing (insert, delete, move, copy); block operations; search and replace; spell check, grammar check and thesaurus; headers and footers; working with multiple documents; printing; footnotes and endnotes; forms; and disk maintenance. Prerequisite: ENL020 and ENL050 or satisfactory basic skills assessment score; Corequisite: GIT101 or a typing speed of 30 wpm / 3 credits.
