This course addresses a crucial era in United States history: the Civil War. The class covers three major areas of historical inquiry: a) the events that led up to the war including sectionalism and slavery; b) the war itself including an overview of military events, the political and economic impact of war, and the social history of war; and c) Reconstruction, the process by which the nation sought to rebuild after the war. Prerequisite: ENL101 / 3 credits.
