In this course, students explore key myths, legends and symbols in the visual arts and the way in which they have been interpreted by artists throughout history. Illustrated lectures will include the study of art works which deal with specific divinities, legendary and mythic figures as well as symbolic elements such as particular flowers, fruit, animals, objects, colors and numbers. Disciplines such as music, literature, drama, or cinema, relating to the topics discussed in class, are incorporated into the course. Prerequisite: ENL101 and (ART125 or ART126) / 3 credits.
