(Formerly ITB274) In this course, students continue to work with the Threaded Case Study (TCS) introduced in Routers and Routing Basics (CIT167), which involves a school district that wants to upgrade its networking system. Instruction includes, but is not limited to, a review of local area network (LAN) switching, virtual LANs, LAN design, routing protocols, access lists, wide area networks (WANs), the open system interconnection (OSI) reference model, networking, point-to-point protocols (PPPs), integrated services digital network (ISDN), dial-ondemand routing (DDR), frame relays and network management. The course particularly emphasizes students' ability to demonstrate and apply learning acquired during Introduction to Networking (CIT162) and Routers and Routing Basics (CIT167) to a network and to explain how and why a particular strategy is employed. In addition, students prepare for the CCNA Exam and have the option to prepare for the Network+ Certification Exam. Prerequisite: Switching Basics and Intermediate Routing (CIT267).
