DevelopmentThis competency-based course provides students with an understanding of their reading strengths and weaknesses. Emphasis is placed on fundamental reading skills: word-analysis, vocabulary development, and reading comprehension. Students practice these skills through group and individual instruction using newspapers, magazines, textbooks, and literature. After completing RDG 09, with a "C -" or better, students enroll in RDG 10. Only students who demonstrate competency on a college reading test may waive RDG 10. Credit cannot be applied toward a degree. Grade points earned in this course will be included permanently in the cumulative GPA and SPI.
