3 class hours 3 Credits This course is a study of the basic scientific techniques used in criminal investigation with special emphasis on the role of the evidence technician in solving crimes.While the more comprehensive facilities of a criminalistic laboratory are explored, major attention will be focused on the more limited portable devices available to the small enforcement unit. (*) Preparatory credit does not count toward a degree or certificate. (**) Offered if sufficient demand (?) Designates a class that is repeatable. Pertinent criminal law and Supreme Court interpretations are covered as background materials for the consideration of types of physical evidence.
