4 Credits Prerequisite: PSY1050 This course is an introduction to Special Education. The purpose of this course is to familiarize students with the history of special education and the laws that affect the educational process, as well as taking a look at the disabilities identified under IDEA. Characteristics and the etiology of these disabilities are discussed utilizing IDEA classifications, the DSM-IVR and the definitions of various professional organizations.
