3 hours per week. This course introduces students to basic individual rights under the U.S. Constitution and how these rights conflict with maintaining public order and enforcing criminal laws. The exclusionary rule, privacy, probable cause, reasonableness and rights guaranteed by the Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Amendments are addressed. Additionally, emphasis is placed on the law of arrest, search and seizure and confessions. Students are also exposed to the rules of evidence.
