Class hours: 64-72 lecture. Limitation on Enrollment: Satisfactory completion of the third module of the Vocational Nursing (VN) program. Corequisite: Nursing: Vocational 406BL. Concepts, principles, and advanced skills of the nursing process - based on Maslow's hierarchy of needs - to meet threats to the cardiovascular, digestive, and pulmonary systems and accessory organs of digestion. Leadership focus on patient teaching, reporting status of assigned group of patients, and verification and follow through of physician's orders. Study of psycho-social influences and their application to effective communication with patients. Recognition of alterations to patient's mind and body functioning due to substance abuse and specific mental disorders. Field trips may be a required part of this course. 1230.20
