3 units; 3 hours Lecture, 1 hour Laboratory Recommended Preparation: Eligibility for ENGL 100 and READ 100. Introduces the folk and popular musical traditions of Latin American cultures, with an emphasis on cultural roots and the evolution of contemporary regional styles. Weekly reading assignments, participation in online discussions and research, and listening to recorded music through recordings and attendance at live performances. This course May be offered in a Distance-Learning Format. Transfer Credit: Transfers to CSU. Transfers to UC.
