1-3 units; 1 hour Lecture Repeatability: May be taken a total of 2 times. Recommended Preparation: ECE 31 or ECE 131; ECE 53; eligibility for ENGL 100 and READ 100, when taught in English, or concurrent enrollment in ESL 201A or ESL 220A or higher ESL level, when taught in Spanish. Studies developmentally appropriate practices for cooking with young children to support sensory/motor learning; math and science concepts; emergent literacy and language, in culturally relevant curriculum. Learn how to plan and prepare a child-safe cooking environment; how to create healthy and nutritious, simple, good tasting recipes; and how to implement a cooking curriculum using everyday utensils and appliances. May be taught in Spanish as part of the Bilingual Spanish/English ECE teacher skills certificate.
