Examines the effects of group behavior on the individual, including, but not limited to, the study of conformity, mass communication, propaganda, persuasion, attitude formation, and attitude change. Also discusses self-justification, prosocial behavior, aggression, prejudice, attraction, attribution, perception, motivation, and interpersonal relations. Includes the application of the scientific method and research strategies in social psychology. Recommended: SOCI B1 or PSYC B1a, Reading Level 5 or 6, English Level 5. Hours: 54 lect. Offered: F, S. CCS: Liberal Arts & Sciences. Transferable: UC, CSU and private colleges. Note: Not open to students who have taken the equivalent course, SOCI B20. IGETC 4.
