Provides a foundation for psychiatric/mental health nursing using the nursing process, growth and development concepts and psychosocial principles as the framework for presenting the health problems and special concerns of clients with mental/emotional or chemical dependency problems. Legal and ethical issues, communicating/responding strategies, assessment techniques and treatment approaches are discussed. Prerequisites: Completion of first and second semesters of ADN program or evaluation by program director for skills and knowledge, concurrent enrollment in NURS B8L. Hours: 36 lect. Offered: F, S.
