3 units 3 hours weekly Advisory: Eligibility for ENGL 099. This course is a study of the social, historical, and political components of race and ethnic relations in the United States. Major ethnic, racial, and minority groups including African-American, Hispanic, Asian-Pacific Islander, Native American and Women will be examined in detail utilizing sociological theories and perspectives, as well as questions concerning techniques designed to promote peaceful and successful interaction.
