3 units 3 hours weekly Advisory: Eligibility for ENGL 101. This course is designed to develop understanding, speaking, reading and writing in Spanish. Emphasis will be on the vocabulary used at a school setting. Since this course is designed for students who are or will be educators, students pursuing a CLAD teaching credential in California can use this course to fulfill half of their second language requirement. This course is equivalent, in scope, to the first half of SPAN 101; students who have completed SPAN 101 will not get credit for this course. Also, it is a beginning course for non-native Spanish speakers. (CSU, AVC)
