1 unit 1 hour weekly Advisory: Eligibility for ENGL 095 and READ 095 (AVC Assessment). Students will learn how to use spelling rules; spell consonant and vowel sounds in words; avoid spelling errors caused by faulty pronunciations; proofread to correct spelling errors; locate correct spellings of words in the dictionary; use the apostrophe and hyphen; capitalize and abbreviate words. This course is intended for students in all courses who wish to improve their spelling ability. NOTE: No grade will be given for this class; student will receive "pass" or "npass" only. (Credit course not applicable to the associate degree and certificate programs.)
