3 units 6 hours weekly Prerequisite: Completion of CG 101/MM 101. Corequisite: Concurrent enrollment in CG 123L. Advisory: Eligibility for ENGL 097 and READ 099. Instructional materials fee required for this course and must be paid at registration. This course provides the student with the necessary introduction to the elements of typography and calligraphy design using the computer as the instrument of choice. Emphasis will be placed on the history and appropriate use of the typography and calligraphy as practiced in the professional printing and design world using Macintosh Operating Systems (MOS) and Microsoft (MS) Windows systems. Students may have to purchase additional supplies not provided by the college. (CSU, AVC) ( R2)
