1-3 units 17-51 total hours Prerequisite: Completion of ENGL 101. A special topics course allows a class to focus on a specific author, literary period, subject, theme, genre, or grouping of literary texts. Topics will vary with each offering and will encourage an in-depth approach to a literary subject that is rarely possible in a broad survey course. Students are also introduced to the practice of reading and writing critically and of responding to literature with some degree of intellectual objectivity. (CSU, UC, AVC)
