3.5 units 5 hours weekly (3 hours lecture, 2 hours lab) Advisory: Completion of CT 050, and Eligibility for READ 097 and MATH 050. A beginning college level sewing class. Students will review sewing machine parts, care and preventable maintenance. Students will be introduced to a variety of clothing construction techniques including seams, seam finishes and hems. Facings, sleeves, collar, buttonholes, zipper and waistband applications will be covered during the semester. Students will construct four garments (shell, skirt, blouse and reversible vest). Emphasis will be on commercial patterns and fitting methods. Required for Clothing and Textile majors. [CAN FCS 10] (CSU, AVC) ( R1)
