5 units 168 hours total An introduction to the history and prehistory of Peru, through the review of, and participation in, archaeological research. Students will receive lectures on Peruvian history and culture, and direct training in methods of archaeological research. Students will be active participants in an ongoing field research project on the southern coast of Peru sponsored by the California Institute of Peruvian Studies in cooperation with Peru's Instituto Nacionale de Cultura.
