3 units 3 hours weekly Advisory: Eligibility for College Level Reading and ENGL 101. This transfer level course focuses on the contributions of women artists to the general history of visual art. Topics covered include the challenges women historically and currently face in producing and exhibiting their artwork and the historical and cultural contexts which influenced them. The time periods studied begin in the ancient world but emphasis will be placed on female artists of the fifteenth century through modern times, and how their works compare and contrast with that of male artists.
