General Education: AA/AS Area I; CSU Area C1; IGETC Area 3A Course Transferable to UC/CSU Hours: 54 hours LEC This course explores the artistic, business, and social elements of modern fi lm. It examines the elements that go into making fi lms: acting, directing, cinematography, writing and editing. It investigates the techniques used to manipulate the audience into fear, laughter and sadness; and compares the commercial box offi ce hit and "movie star" to enduring artistic fi lms and actors. The class will view and analyze fi lms to evaluate fi lmmaking techniques and the impact of fi lms and the movie business on society.
